Ultraviolet disinfection inactivates bacteria and viruses as water passes a UV lamp — standard on private wells, cottages and cisterns where microbiological safety matters.
UV light at the right dose damages microorganisms so they cannot reproduce. It does not add chemicals, change taste or remove hardness, iron, PFAS or sediment — it is a disinfection step, not a filter.
