Why WaterFilterHelp.ca
Built for Canadian homes, water and weather.
We're a specialist directory — not a generic home services marketplace. Every partner we list installs and services water treatment as their core business, and every lead goes to one pro, not a bidding war.
Start your quoteHard water is a Canadian reality
Ontario, the Prairies and much of Quebec run on hard water that eats up appliances and leaves scale on every fixture. A properly sized softener pays for itself in appliance life alone.
PFAS rules just changed
Health Canada dropped the recommended limits for PFAS — the 'forever chemicals' — in 2025. Certified reverse osmosis is the most reliable in-home defence.
Aging infrastructure & lead
Older municipal service lines still leach lead in many Canadian cities. Point-of-use filters and RO systems remove it before it reaches your glass.
Well water is its own science
Iron, manganese, sulphur, bacteria and nitrates all need different treatment. Rural Canadians deserve someone who's actually installed dozens of systems on wells like yours.
FAQ
Common questions from Canadian homeowners.
How much does a whole-home water filtration system cost in Canada?+
Whole-home filtration typically runs $1,500–$5,000+ installed depending on flow rate, media and contaminants. Softeners are usually $1,200–$3,500 and under-sink reverse osmosis units $400–$1,500. Well water combination systems (softener + iron filter + UV) commonly land between $2,500 and $5,500.
Do I need a softener, a filter, or both?+
Softeners remove hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) that scale up plumbing and appliances. Filters remove taste, odour, chlorine, sediment, iron, sulphur, PFAS and other contaminants. Most Canadian homes benefit from a softener plus a whole-home carbon filter, with a small RO unit at the kitchen sink for drinking water.
What should well water owners test for?+
At minimum: bacteria (total coliforms and E. coli), nitrates, hardness, iron, manganese, sulphur, pH and TDS. Homes near agriculture, industry or airports should also test for PFAS. Most provinces recommend testing well water two to three times a year.
Does reverse osmosis remove PFAS and lead?+
Yes. Certified reverse osmosis systems reduce PFAS, lead, arsenic, nitrates and most dissolved contaminants to well below Health Canada's updated 2025 drinking water guidelines. Pair with a whole-home carbon block filter for chlorine and taste.
How do I know the contractor is qualified?+
Look for CWQA (Canadian Water Quality Association) members, WQA-certified installers, WSIB coverage and liability insurance. Every pro we match you with is asked to confirm licensing, insurance and manufacturer certifications for the systems they install.
