How to read your municipal water report
Utility consumer confidence reports list chlorine, hardness hints and regulated contaminants. What homeowners should skim before buying gear.

Find the report
Search your city plus "drinking water report" or check the utility website. Numbers are system averages — your street can still differ slightly.
What to note
- Disinfectant type (chlorine vs chloramine)
- Any lead/copper sample notes for older plumbing
- Hardness if published (sometimes only on request)
- Contaminants near guideline limits that motivate RO
Reports vs in-home reality
Building plumbing, softeners and private wells are outside the plant report. Homes on wells need their own lab tests.
Turn insight into a plan
Use the Water Problem Wizard with city water selected, or request a quote and paste report highlights into the notes field.
