Health Canada’s current objective

Health Canada established a drinking-water objective of 30 ng/L for the sum of 25 specified PFAS. It is a precautionary objective while formal guidelines are reassessed, not a finalized maximum acceptable concentration. Testing is specialized and should be performed by an accredited PFAS laboratory.

Look for the exact certification claim

Some carbon systems certified to NSF/ANSI 53 and reverse-osmosis systems certified to NSF/ANSI 58 carry specific PFAS-reduction claims. Certification to a standard does not mean every listed product reduces every contaminant, so verify the exact model and claim.

Point-of-use limits and verification

An under-sink system treats only the connected drinking tap, not the whole home. Performance varies with water chemistry, flow and media life. Use paired accredited-lab samples before and after treatment to verify results.
